Become One with Nature

With more than 2,277 acres of parkland, Pekin’s hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails are perfect for those looking for something different and energetic to do.

McNaughton Park is one of the largest with 850 acres and includes lakes, horse trails, disc golf, and more. The park also includes a designated camping area if you want to bring your tent and spend the night outside. Dirksen Park is great for nature watching with more than 400 acres of beautiful woodlands and meadows. Independence Park features more than 12 miles of trails with the option to mix and match shorter hikes as well. Tante Park has a trail that runs along a creek bank, making it a great place for a quiet picnic!

Have your bike with you? Many of these trails are open to mountain bikers as well, or you can check out the 4.3-mile Pekin Bike Trail that runs through town!
