Located along Route 24 in Canton, this massive 4,363-acre freshwater wetland complex is a stunning example of successful environmental reclamation, offering some of the most diverse recreational opportunities in the region.
Banner Marsh is a true paradise for fishermen. Teeming with more than 200 clear water bodies, the marsh is legendary for its well-balanced fishery. Anglers from all over travel here to cast for largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, crappie, channel catfish, and giant bluegill. With three public access points equipped with boat ramps, it’s the perfect spot to launch a bass boat, kayak, or canoe for a day on the water.
The area is also a major hub for seasonal waterfowl, dove, upland game, and archery deer hunting, drawing outdoorsmen from across the state. For those who prefer a slower pace, Banner Marsh is an officially designated "Important Birding Area" (IBA) by the Audubon Society.
